Busking In The Rain
-
This weekend (Feb 19) Ethan is away in a small rural area of New Zealand, known as Pukekohe. I remember spending a lot of time in this area when I was growing up, as they hosted car racing, and classic motorcycle racing. It was a lot of fun. I was chatting with Ethan on Friday morning about the upcoming gig at the Pukekohe show, and it was raining. He mentioned to me that even though it was raining, and thundery where he was heading, “The Show Must Go On”
I asked him whether or not he had cover when he performed outdoors and he quickly responded, “No”, so I suggested an umbrella. You know, the ones that have a ground base, and they stand about 7′ tall! We thought that was a great idea to keep the rain off him when he was standing there strumming his guitar and entertaining the crowds. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO SPONSOR AN UMBRELLA for him please contact us here at the office and we will happily purchase an umbrella for him, and add your business name, or slogan to it. This could be a great way to gain some good exposure for your business!
The passion for music is so amazing with this kid, that he is happy to get out there in the rain and play to the people. He understands, as his t-shirts tell you, that in order to get recognised, and build a reputation as a musician, you have to do the hard yards. Sure its no fun standing in the rain, but I am sure that the smiles he is able to put on peoples faces during the weekend will more than make up for the discomfort. It got me to thinking….. I wonder how many other kids get out there in their local area and busk to get noticed!?
I know that Sam and Nik do, (you can check them out on Youtube) and I am sure they have had their fair share of experiences with the New Zealand weather as well. But they continue to do it, and it continues to pay off. Ethan has been busking since he was just a little fellow, and he enjoys it a lot. Sitting, standing or revolving in an office chair, his inspiration and enthusiasm for his music is simply top notch! I encourage every young artist to check out their local area, ask shop keepers, and council if you can perform at an upcoming special event, or in the street on a Saturday afternoon. It not only provides a great platform for learning what it is to play to the public, it can also earn a little money. It would not be right to tell you what Ethan earns through his busking, suffice to say.. “He has paid for all his own instruments, and music with his own money!”
Give it a go, and see how well you do! It would be great for you to come back here and tell us about your experiences with busking! We would love to hear how you went

Lovely article. What I feel sorry for – is that I am unable to attend one of this live performance of Ethan. I have been talking over his dad over a possibility of them to be recorded – or even streamed live – as I am sure many of the fans of Ethan`s music like me would enjoy such an experience.

Thanks skykid! Don't feel sorry mate, anything is possible
) He is in the very early stages of his musical future, as you know. I can see him travelling to perform, and of course I would imagine your location would be on the tour trail.
The streaming of Ethans music, and other young musicians is already underway, and in the early planning stages. Soon we hope to be able to bring the fans and other alike, regular streaming via ethans radion station.
Of course these things are possible because of the fantastic support he recieves from many people, like yourself. Stay tuned my friend!
